This Senior Linux Engineerwill work with specifically with customers that implement a LINUX environment with Hostway. Your role is to ensure proper management and to improve the overall support experience for these customers. We are looking for an experienced candidate with a proven track record of being solution and delivery focused, and who can perform at a high level coordinating strategic, cross-functional, business facing and technical initiatives. Develop and maintain a strong relationship with the customer’s technical contact. Learn the platform and application to provide the go-to expertise and relationship with the account.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Manage operational relationship between Hostway and assigned Strategic Accounts.
Develop the technical relationship with the Strategic Account as the platform expert.
Participate in quarterly business reviews (QBR) and other travel events with the Business Account Management Team.
Serve as an escalation point of contact for operational projects and events to ensure response and visibility.
Documentation/run book creation and design
Assist system architects (SA) in building and maintaining logical and physical diagrams.
Maintain client documentation and knowledge articles, detailing architecture, application, escalation processes, caveats, procedures, etc.
Perform audits of the customers Infrastructure to ensure effective documentation.
Work with functional managers to implement process changes, ensure training to L1/L2 staff and share account and environment information.
Develop capacity reporting and forecasting to identify both current and future capacity needs.
Create and maintain run books for each Strategic Account to create the best experience for our customer and their platform.
Identify single points of failure and performance limitations.
Collaborate with Solution Architects, Networking and Facilities to determine solutions.
Support Sales and Solution Architects to present solutions to Strategic Accounts.
Assist Strategic Accounts in the conception and deployment of projects and new infrastructure, avoiding single point of failure and performance limitations.
Collaborate with Solution Architects to design Disaster recovery solutions and plans to present to the customer.
Govern access control to Strategic Account environment and enclave.
Ensure that proactive updates are being done to technologies to support policy, reduce security risk and ensure stable operations.
Develop Patch Management cadence with customers.
Escalation point for L3, Facilities, Networking, Business Account Manager, etc.
Participate in Technical Account Managers and L3 Weekly/BiWeekly meetings including with customers.
Administrate the customer's platform to resolve all system-related customer system issues.
Escalate with Technical Support to resolve all system-related customer issues (which includes Cloud related issues).
Creating trouble tickets and escalating them appropriately and in a timely fashion by use of ticketing and/or notification procedures.
Manage security related issues.
DESIRED MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems (MIS) or another similar technical discipline or equivalent combination of education and experience (5 - 7 years).
5+ Years as a System Administrator or better.
Hardware Knowledge/Experience with DELL, HP, Cisco, F5 and Brocade
Familiarity with system administration on several variants of Linux, including but not limited to: RHET, CENT, DEBIAN, Ubuntu, FreeBSD.
Installation, configuration, optimization and maintenance of network services including but not limited to Apache, MySQL, PHP, Bind/MyDNS/PowerDNS, Sendmail/Postfix/Exim and FTP.
Installation, configuration, optimization and maintenance of network services including but not limited to Open vSwitch, IPTables, NGINX (Reverse Proxy), LVS/ Keepalived.
Configuration and troubleshooting of Cisco ASA’s and related products.
Installation and configuration of related networking appliances such as: Load Balancers, Switches, WAF, etc.
Demonstrated abilities to perform periodic software and Linux system updates, upgrades, backups/restoration and security patches.
Experience with the management and operations of a VMware platforms and AWS platforms.
Experience with Clustered VMware products vCenter, vMotion, vCloud Director etc.
Experience in container virtualization: Docker and Kubernetes.
Experience with Shell scripting, Python, Perl, etc.
Administration of control panels; Plesk, CPanel, Exim.
Experience with MySQL, MariaDB, InnoDB and clustering.
High-level organizational and communication skills.
Excellent team player with capability to lead projects and small initiatives with minimal oversight.
Previous experience in a specialized focus in one (or more) of the following areas: Backups, Mail systems, High Availability, Database, etc.
Elastic search configuration and optimization such as Greylog.
Currently has one of both: RHCSA/ RHCE
